Peabody Man Dead, Four Injured in Boxford Crash Following Reports of Racing

Reckless driving is at the top of the list when it comes to what causes most traffic accidents. Recently, vehicles along Interstate 95 South witnessed a three-vehicle crash that left one dead and more injured. A man from Peabody was killed during the crash while at least four others, including a child, suffered injuries. Two drivers who were racing were the culprits behind the crash.

Multiple Injuries, Multiple Crashes

Michael Espinola, one of the racers, was killed when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck both an Acura MDX and a Honda Civic. People taken from those cars, including a twelve-year-old girl and a sixty-four-year-old man and woman, were brought to Beverly Hospital. None of them had life-threatening injuries, and all were in stable condition.

State police say Espinola was taken to Beverly Hospital, as well, but he was pronounced dead immediately upon arrival. Just one hour later, a second crash happened in the same area. It occurred directly across from where the first incident took place. A twenty-four-year-old woman from New Hampshire struck the back of a tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes of the interstate. She was flown to a women's hospital for treatment of her serious injuries. None were life-threatening.

A Busy Night for Police

It was a busy day for police officers in the area with both of these crashes occurring within one hour of the other. There were also reports made of the racing prior to the first crash, which allowed officers to arrive on the scene quickly. They were barely finished with the initial incident before the second occurred. No information has been provided regarding who was charged and for what. Further investigations need to be undertaken.
